3 Great Colorado Springs Restaurants You Might Not Know

We get asked for restaurant recommendations all of the time by new clients who are moving to Colorado Springs, as well as clients who have lived here for a long time. Sometimes you can live in a place for awhile and still not know about little gems that exist right under your nose. Such might be the case with the following three "Mom and Pop" Colorado Springs Restaurants ...

Uwe's German Restaurant (31 Iowa Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909, (719) 475-1611) Owners Michael and Sabine Berchtold fell in love with Colorado Springs after answering an ad in a German paper for the sale of a German Restaurant in Colorado. Tucked in a little strip mall off Platte, this gem has reasonably priced, delicious German food with a spattering of Hungarian and Bavarian. Jaeger schnitzel, roulade, goulash, and the sauerbraten to name a few. They also offer a variety of German beers and wines (try the hot spiced wine!), as well as desserts. Open for lunch Mon - Sat from 11am - 2pm and dinner Mon - Sat 5:30pm - 8:30pm reservations encouraged. closed Sun

The Roman Villa (3005 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80907, (719) 635-1806) Roman Villa is a family owned, local Italian restaurant that has been serving the Colorado Springs community since 1959. You will see pictures of family and patrons covering the walls. Handmade pasta and sauces, incredible pizza and be sure to try their Roman Villa Chicken. Their house salad with house Italian dressing and bleu cheese crumbles is to die for. (We recently found out that they sell their salad dressing...LOVE having it at home!) Wine and Beer available. You can call for takeout, or stay, but get there at 5 or be prepared for a wait. Open 5-9pm Mon-Sat closed Sun

Kohnami Sushi Japanese Restaurant (7673 N Union Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80920, (719) 599-8689) Run by Chef Jung Kew and his wife, Kohnami is a cozy restaurant off of Briargate Blvd. The service is fantastic every time we have ever gone (which is a lot!) and the food is terrific. We have kids that don't eat sushi and they always find something wonderful to eat. Variety of sushi, sashimi, tempura and teriyaki among others. Nice selection of beer and wines. Takeout available. Open Mon- Fri 11am to 9pm Open dinner on Sat, closed Sun Let us know what your favorite restaurant "Gems" are!
